Open Educator, Inc. develops and supports open-source knowledge-sharing communities that make it possible for every motivated K-12 teacher to be highly effective.

Interested Educators can join Open Planner, Open Educator's free, easy-to-use, collaborative planning community!

Registered members can:

  • author and maintain "open-source" planning projects for review and use by our community of educators
  • peruse, use, and learn from the planning work of others
  • start or join collaborative authoring teams.

An experiment in building The Open Curriculum.

Unfortunately, we are no longer accepting new users. All our content, as always, remains available to the public, however a content-generating membership can now only be obtained invitation only. Current members who have no spamming history will remain full-fledged site members.

While open-sourcing the K-12 curriculum remains a worthy challenge, as of February 2010, Open Planner has decided to limit its efforts to partnerships with specific schools and curricular projects that we view as likely to succeed in generating useful curricular content.

We will be removing all dormant project stubs and focusing on narrower goals while we continue to assess the viability of the open source model for building 21st century communities of professional teaching practice.

If you are eager to commit to a collaborative content creation project on Open Planner, please contact andrewstillman at columbiasecondary dot org with a summary of your project idea so you can be considered for an invitation.

Thanks to all for your support and curricular contributions over the past four years!
