What are the steps of the peer editing process? Why is peer editing useful?

 

Stage 1:

Students will engage in discussion on editing (reflection on editing chapter of Write Source 2000 assigned for homework night before)

- What is editing? Why should we edit?

- How is editing different from revising?

- Why should we follow the process of peer editing?

Stage 2:

Students will have the opportunity to work independently and in pairs on the process of editing, as well as in the typing phase of "publishing" their pieces. Teacher-student conferencing may occur throughout this time.

Stage 3:

NOTE: This "workshopping" period may last beyond one lesson so that students have an opportunity to fully edit and revise their work!
