The focus at this time discussed by the group during an earlier class setting would be on a Middle School servicing low social-economic background students. These students have been identified as at-risk through assessments, evaluations, and anecdotes in regards to not performing academically on grade level, immature in social development, and progressing English language learners. The goal of the school would to prepare these students for continuing there education by being promoted to high school, meeting 7th grade New York City and 8th grade NY State Standards. Methods to meet these goals would focus on skills based instruction supported by the use of media/communication in proficient ways to be successful in High School and to have minimum media/communication skills desired by entry level position in the New York City work force.
