Unit 3: Adaptation to the Environment

In this unit, students will explore concepts concurrantly studied in Social Studies (Geography) and Science from an English Language Arts Perspective. The unit is focused on digging into the parts of literature, with specific emphasis on short stories. Students will:

- Read a number of short stories and examine both structure and content (largely related to human adaptation to the physical environment).

- Be introduced to "book groups" with novels related to human adaptation to the physical environment.

- Write their own short stories.

- Respond to literature through individual essays and creative group projects.
