Stage 1:

Ask students to describe the symptons of am illness. Then involve the whole class in a brief discussion of what causes people to become ill. Help students arrive at the primary cause of disease, accepting sich terms as bugs, viruses, germs. Explain that in this unit we will begin to understand and redefine the terms above. 

 

Stage 2:

 before students begin reading the lesson, ask them whether they have ever thrown away food because it was spoiled? Why does food spoil? What can be done to prevent it?  Science log: Anwers questions, group discussion, and reading text.

Stage 3:

  Have students pause after reading page 132. Have a volunteer read the Guidlines for food service Personnel aloud while another student demonstartes the instructions.
