Learning objectives: Weathering is a process by which rocks are broken and worn down by water, ice pollutants and the activities if plants and animals. The amount and rate of weathering are determined by a variety of factors.

Key Questions, Concepts, or Themes: weathering

Stage 1: Have each student use a pencil to write his or her name on a piece of paper. The ask students to erase their names and brish the small eraser particles into a pile. Ask: How might this activity compare with the eroding effects of certian materials on rocks?

Stage 2: Investigating rock-break forces: Look at school yard, look at park find evidence of weathering take pictures. Creat data chart
