Erosion is a weathering process in which parts of the Earth's surface are carried away by wind and water.

Gravity plays a role in all types of erosion

Down-slope movements include landslides, mudslides, and avalanches.

Stage 1:

  Write the names  Yellow River, Colorado River, and Red River on the baord. Ask students why they think these rivers received these names. 

Stage 2:

  Call on volunterrs to read aloud the two pargarghs. Sk another student  to explain the terms erosion. Name the causes of erosion, how does gravity play a role? Any personal changes on erosion in action?

Stage 3:

  A model landslide: experiment looks at erosion a constant rate, controlled rate to look at a comparision.
