study skills-cornell notes
At our first advisory meeting, we brainstormed on what an advisory class should look like and one of the areas we agreed we should touch on is helping students improve their study skills. Learning effective note-taking strategies is a study skill that I think will help our students succeed academically. I have included some helpful links that i have used in the past.
I especially like the power point presentation. If you can not access the link below, I have the document saved. Advisory Class might be a good time to work on note-taking strategies. You could show the power point presentation and use a pre-selected text to help model this process.
Cornell Notes Links Here is an excellent Power Point presentation that you might want to show your students with an overhead projector.

Cornell Notes
This looks good, I like the first link in that it is simple. I like the first part of the power point. Doing a mini lesson where students compare their notes seems like an excellent idea.
I think this should be posted under study skills.
