Background information for this curriculum
The objective of English education in Japanese high schools Cultivate Japanese who can use English (by MEXT : the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology )
→ To cultivate Japanese students' communication skills, the improvement of listening and speaking are important to achieve this objective
→Based on this revision of English education, listening section has been introduced into Center Test since 2006..
The aim of this listening test
- To evaluate students' communication skills including listening and speaking
- To bring an impact on English education in high schools
This listening test- covers various types of listening from monologue to dialogue
- converse various types of listening from daily conversation to announcement
- converse various levels of listening from short dialogue to long research result
Two main roles of this Center Test- the measurement for general listening comprehension
- the medium to improve their listening comprehension
(If they can understand the questions in the listening test, they may be able to improve their general listening comprehension. )
